Let’s talk about the “I” word —

the number one killer of asian elephants all across the continent. No, not the ivory trade — ignorance.

Elephants used to hang out all over Asia, walking ancient migratory routes with the monsoon seasons but now are stuck in tiny parts of India, Sri Lanka, and Sumatra because of human meddling and development. It forces the elephant to come into contact with a lot of angry farmers — not fun. Elephant-nappers illegally take them from out wildlife homes for tourist entertainment in places like Thailand to be ridden or put in circuses. Dumbo is not a cute look.
