Get to know me!

Hey everyone, my name is Moonshine the Swan.

I am the Trumpeter Swan, one out of the seven species of the swan, a bird of the family Anatidae within the genus Cygnus.

I am closely related to the geese—but I have proportionally larger feet and necks! I weigh 30 pounds, and I measure around 56-62 inches in length. With my streamlined body shape, long neck, webbed feet, and strong wings, I am actually one of the few heavy birds that is able to fly, even if only for a short distance! My ability to extend up to 10 feet long and my 25,000 feathers able me to soar in the sky, up to 60 mph.

You can find any of my kind in the the northern hemisphere – in Australia, New Zealand, and South America, but I’ll be hanging out around lakes and rivers. I sleep on both land and water. I gobble up roots, tubers, and plants, but occasionally would munch on insects and tadpoles. When on lakes, I sleep standing on one leg while floating, and with my head tucked back under my wing! I am known for my loud, deep, sonorous, trumpet-like honking sounds, peeps, hisses and gurgles. I have a very distinct noise, and you will know me when you hear me!

  • In dreams: Embody wellness in personal life and promises purity, beauty, and wealth
