Greetings. I am the Hootwinker.
I am a screech owl vigilante! Screech owl mothers try to eat their young and growing up in a similar scenario (don’t ask) I have been consumed by survivor’s guilt ever since. I understand the plight the the young screech owl so my goal is to steal as many eggs as possible from other screech owl mothers and raise them myself so that they will not be eaten. I will then raise all of my adopted owlets as a vigilante group that will go after all mothers that eat their young.

Screech Owl Facts:
o They have feathers on their eyelids to camouflage themselves
o They can live to be 14 years old
o The most common screech owl sounds are low hoots, tremolos, and whinnies. Check out some sounds on this website: https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Eastern_Screech-Owl/sounds. The whinny is used to defend territory (when the owl is not feeling threatened enough for a screech). A "tremolo" is used to communicate between mates, and is typically described as the “song” of the birds. It is also known as a “bounce song”
The screech owl “screech”
The screech owl is obviously most famous for its screech. Take a listen right here: (time stamp: 1:59) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XB1kiAG0DRA. Screech owls only screech when threatened or defending their nest.
