PLINY THE OSTRICH

Greetings! I am Pliny the Ostrich, defender of the truth and dignity of Ostriches worldwide!

Fun fact: ostriches naturally come from Africa, and while I am not from Africa I was born on an ostrich farm in Britain. From a young age I’ve felt connected to ostriches. They are commonly farmed for meat and leather, and naturally, I lived my life in constant fear of their deaths. However, I was lucky: my parents had a soft spot for me would listen when I would plead that they weren’t ready for eating quite yet. I loved my parents of course, but I resolved to escape the ostriches escape. Now, I travel the world freeing other Ostriches from leather and meat farming. My name, Pliny, comes from the Roman author and philosopher Pliny the Elder. He spread the horrid rumor that Ostriches are stupid!! For the record: they don’t bury their heads in the sand, they simply lay flat on the ground to avoid being seen… and it works! Despite his false rumor, I chose this name for myself when I left home to remind myself that even the most celebrated humans can be wrong and I must defend, protect, and save the lives of ostriches from the indignity of being eaten and worn!
