Dr. Jag
The doctor is in…
Hello friends. My name is Dr. Jag. I am from the Amazon rainforest. Jaguars are solitary like me, but sometimes that’s lonely, so I like to meet people and animals of all species. I am an orthodontist! Jaguars have big canine teeth that need to be aligned just right to tear through tough caiman skin - I’d love to help them out with that. So if you come across a young jaguar with braces in the future, you just might be looking at my handiwork. In my spare time, I enjoy swimming, playing sports like basketball (go Sixers!), and listening to music. You should know that I am at risk of losing my home because of deforestation. I live in the most biodiverse place in the world and it would be a shame to endanger my neighbors and me when we are just trying to live in peace. So, in the future, think about how your actions affect Dr. Jag and the gang.
Jaguars are the largest species of cat in the Americas. They are skilled predators, whose prey include deer, tapir, caiman, and fish. They have strongest bite force of any cat in the world, and they can hunt on land or in water. Their range formerly included the southern regions of South America and the southern United States, but jaguars are now usually found in remote areas of Central and South America. Jaguars are hunted for their beautiful fur. Jaguars who prey on livestock may also come into conflict with ranchers. Jaguars are near threatened and need your help.
