Emusing Emu

The emu is an Australian bird that stands more than six feet tall and roams desert and bushland with impunity. It talks with its throat, letting out low gurgly noises that can be heard over a mile away, and hisses when angry. Emus eat food from the ground and are eaten by animals including dingoes and goanas. They run fast and steer themselves with their wings, which also exist for cooling off (but not for flying). Emus are dark and scruffy animals with gangly legs, large, heavy bodies and tiny heads. They store large amounts of fat and liquid in their bodies and can go for long periods of time without nourishment. They live in groups.
